Volunteers are an important part of our work and serve in many different capacities. Providing childcare, organizing our clothing exchange, helping with special events, advising and developing our program are just some of the activities that our volunteers help with.
We’re always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help out!
We have opportunities for:
Childcare Providers, caring individuals who supervise kids of all ages while their relative caregivers attend a support group. Stipend available.
Members of our Wisdom Work Teams, these self-directed teams of people who are 55+, use their knowledge to help us improve our
programs. Stipend available.
Court Volunteers, these volunteers will provide support to grandfamilies as they go through the court process. Volunteers will not provide clients with legal advice, but will instead help them to understand the court process and provide them with emotional support. Stipend available.
Grandfamily to Grandfamily Volunteers, these volunteers provide peer support to other grandfamilies. They listen and let them know they are not alone and offer support and information during difficult times. These volunteers get to hear the sign on the other end of the phone when someone feels better because they took the time to listen to them. Stipend available.
Clothing Exchange Organizers help families by keeping clothing organized and getting boxes ready to send to families.
Outreach Volunteers to help distribute posters and brochures to locations within their communities. These volunteers will help other grandfamilies connect with Families And Children Together and the services we provide.
Members of our Advisory Committee know about our community and grandfamilies – and they use that knowledge to help us continue to develop our program. Families are constantly changing – and we need to keep up!
Examples of other projects that volunteers have helped us with include: Organizing support group meetings in new locations; staffing special events; and preparing our monthly newsletters for mailing.
If you have another way you’d like to volunteer,
we’re always willing to discuss other possibilities.
